OSHEAN recently sponsored an exciting Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense League (NECCDL) event hosted at Roger Williams University. The 2025 Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (NECCDC) featured 10 teams, each consisting of up to eight students from universities across the Northeast. The ten teams earned their place in the event by meeting strict qualification standards. These teams, known as Blue Teams, were evaluated on their ability to defend against cyber-attacks launched by a Red Team. The competition took place over three days, running from March 13th to March 15th.
Prior to the event, OSHEAN designed and implemented a network at the Roger Williams campus to ensure a stable and reliable connection for the red and blue teams during the competition. This network was both physically and logically separate from the campus infrastructure and extended across 10 classrooms. A distinct logical circuit was established from the campus to our Data Center in Providence, RI. Additionally, we deployed a dedicated firewall instance and configured a secure tunnel to AWS, where the red and blue teams’ infrastructure was hosted.
The event was a truly engaging and impressive experience. The students demonstrated knowledge, professionalism, and punctuality. It was a great pleasure to witness the future of the cybersecurity industry, as the students showcased their remarkable talent and potential contributions. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the participating teams and a special shout-out to the top three winners:
- 1st Place – UMASS Lowell
- 2nd Place – University of New Hampshire
- 3rd Place – Rochester Institute of Technology
