Cloud connectivity designed around member outcomes
OSHEAN helps members design cloud connectivity around application performance, resiliency, bandwidth, and security requirements. Private transport is available for supported providers and architectures, allowing applicable traffic to avoid commodity Internet paths.
Supported providers and connection types
Current source content identifies connectivity to AWS Direct Connect, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, Google Cloud Connect, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure through supported Internet2 Cloud Exchange architectures.
Available designs may use commodity Internet, Layer 3 VPN, or Layer 2 Ethernet peering according to the provider, application, and member requirements.
Resiliency and architecture options
Members can evaluate geographically diverse primary and secondary paths, provider locations, bandwidth, latency, and failure domains with OSHEAN engineering support. Availability depends on the selected provider and architecture.
Research and specialized connectivity
OSHEAN provides access to Internet2 services and connectivity to the Massachusetts Green High-Performance Computing Center for supported research and collaboration requirements.
Visibility and engineering support
Cisco ThousandEyes can provide additional visibility into supported cloud and network paths. OSHEAN engineers help members evaluate application dependencies, routing, bandwidth, latency, and resilience before implementation.
Dependencies and pricing factors
Private transport applies only to supported providers and architectures. Cloud transport is priced according to bandwidth, architecture, redundancy, and provider requirements.
