The
Social Media revolution has certainly had an impact on how people
communicate. The early years of the technology affected mainly personal
communications but over the last couple years, its impact on business
has been heavily felt. Sites and tools oriented toward business
applications have emerged giving us a wide choice of options for the
business at large and the individual professional. For example, I have
chosen to use TweetDeck to filter Twitter feeds into categories of
OSHEAN related technologies and companies I am interested in following.
Focused use of Social Media tools can be quite productive and efficient
if used properly.
Along
this line, OSHEAN has embarked on the development of a new web
environment which blurs the line of what used to be a traditional web
site and social media. We believe one of the strong benefits of OSHEAN
is found in its collaborative nature and we aim to provide a new tool to
foster that. Later this summer we will debut a new web site which will
offer opportunities for on-line collaboration and a vastly increased
repository of resources for our membership.
The
site will have Blogs and Forums to subscribe to, and areas for User
Groups to collaborate. Members will have individual controls as to what
they want access to and what services they wish to subscribe if any. We
are excited about this development and will be showing a preview at our
Member Forum later this month.
