Top initiatives since you’ve been at OSHEAN // Could you tell us a little about the
Newport Housing Project and Warwick Municipality Project?
Since my start at OSHEAN, I have been collaborating with our membership to improve
network capabilities, resiliency, and security. A key focus has been assisting members
transitioning their critical applications to Cloud. The most important initiative has been
actively listening to our members and understanding their expectations for current and
future technology initiatives.
Another development was the revival of working groups that had paused during the
pandemic. These groups provide a vital space for our membership to collaborate, share
challenges, exchange ideas and restarting them last year helped strengthen our
community.
The reward of being part of the membership services team is seeing the impact on our
members. The Housing Authority of Newport (HAN) is a perfect example. We provided
HAN with our service, who in turn give their community free Wi-Fi access. By providing
their residents with free Wi-Fi access this enables residents to have better
communication, employment opportunities, online learning and connect with healthcare
providers via telehealth.
The City of Warwick issued an RFP within my first 6 months at OSHEAN. They were
looking to reduce costs, improve operations, increase reliability and scalability. We
successfully won the bid, built fiber to critical locations and enhanced capacity, access
and support of their firewall and switches.
These are just two examples of the many great member stories and projects I have
been part of over the past two years. I am enthusiastic about supporting our
membership with their complex initiatives.
Benefits of OSHEAN membership/What do you lead with when you speak w/
prospective members about how OSHEAN can benefit their organization?
Our network is unique and unlike any other commercial provider. We own and operate a
100% fiber optic network that provides direct access to Cloud providers and Security
services that are paramount to network infrastructure. We provide all our members with
DDoS protection and can connect our members with access to each other without
leaving the network. Our capabilities expand and support the demand for high
performance capabilities for critical infrastructure, research, and education. OSHEAN’s
team is here and accessible.
What are some of the most common challenges OSHEAN members face, and
how does OSHEAN help solve them?
Our membership faces many challenges, including operating their networks 24/7/365,
implementing new technology, ensuring cybersecurity and migrating applications to
Cloud. Members cannot be without access for their operations and critical applications.
OSHEAN’s resilient architecture and high-capacity network is unparalleled.
What inspired you to join OSHEAN, and what excites you most about your role in
Member Services?
I was drawn to OSHEAN because of the opportunity to collaborate with our membership
and solve complex technology challenges. Being part of OSHEAN’s membership
services teams allows me to support nonprofits, healthcare institutions, higher
education, and Rhode Island’s most critical infrastructure. This unique community
elevates the future of how our membership will impact research, education, and critical
services. OSHEAN was founded on the principles of providing secure, reliable, and
scalable services to nonprofits. Each day I get to be part of this incredible community
and support our members’ network innovation.
What does a typical day look like for you as a Member Services Manager at
OSHEAN?
Each day is different here at OSHEAN and that is what makes it so exciting. You never
know what the day will bring, from meeting with our community anchor institutions to
visiting the communities where our services have the most impact. Whether
collaborating on new initiatives, supporting members with their challenges, or
developing solutions that drive innovation, I look forward to what each day brings.
